Fastener manufacturers begin recovery as lockdowns ease and production restarts.
The fastener industry began a recovery phase in June 2020 as lockdowns eased and manufacturing operations restarted across major markets. Automotive plants resumed production, construction activity increased, and industrial operations ramped up, creating renewed demand for fastener products.
Automotive Restart
Automotive manufacturers restarted production facilities that had been idled during lockdowns. The restart process was gradual, with facilities implementing safety protocols and gradually increasing output rates. As vehicle production resumed, fastener orders began recovering from the sharp declines of April and May.
The restart process created supply chain challenges as Tier suppliers and material providers also ramped up operations. Just-in-time systems that had been strained during the shutdown required careful coordination during restart. Fastener suppliers worked to support customer production resumption.
